23 Best Reasons Why Apple Cider Vinegar and Honey Detox
It’s natural to feel like you want to wipe the slate clean.
A bad day, a heavy meal, duller skin, a thicker waistline. Somehow, you fell off track, and now you’re just not quite yourself.
How do we go back?
A detox, or cleanse, is one way to hit the reset button on your body.
Incidentally, a lot of sources will tell you that you need to buy their special product to achieve spectacular health. But I’m going to show you how to detox at home with a few ingredients.
Best of all, you probably already have some of these ingredients in your kitchen.
Although the foundation of our detox contains only two simple, nutritious ingredients (and water!), I’ll share others.
That way, you will have plenty of options you can add in to heighten your health potential.
So without further ado, dive in and find out the...
23 best reasons why apple cider vinegar and honey detox.
1. Prevents cravings (the bad ones, anyway).
Surely you’ve heard others mention the apple cider vinegar and honey detox diet.
Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) in particular has been shown to prevent overeating, possibly due to the fiber content.
When you’re sated, you’re not thinking about ice cream and french fries.
Here is why:
The honey has many benefits too, but it also gives you just a little something sweet.
You see, not all sugar is equal, and the sugar in honey has much more nutritional value than the white stuff.
Not to mention, you’ll be more satisfied with a little bit of dense, sweet honey.
2. Keep your mind super sharp.
Actually, one of the very best apple cider vinegar and honey detox drink side effects is awesome mental clarity.
A few days into your detox, you may notice that it’s easier to make decisions, ground yourself, and even empathize with others.
This is because your brain isn’t being held hostage by processed sugars, caffeine, and other addictive substances.
Finally, you’re getting a glimpse of what it’s like to live in control. All because your brain isn’t pulling you in another direction!
3. Keep your liver clean.
I can’t skip mention of the liver, our body’s primary detox organ.
If you’re participating in any type of cleanse, make sure it aids your liver’s nonstop purification efforts.
For a more liver-loving regimen, I recommend an apple cider vinegar, cayenne pepper, and honey detox.
You can add a dash of lemon, too, for more bitter, spicy tartness. In fact, more bitterness fires up this organ’s mission to purge toxins.
Here is a Weight Loss Bonus for you.
Looking after your liver with ACV can keep you from accumulating extra pounds.
Give your liver some AVC, and the two will work together to use food as energy fuel. That means less ends up as fat.
4. Become more regular.
Regular elimination is the body’s most uncomplicated method of detoxification.
If you aren’t evacuating your bowels daily, or regularly suffer from constipation, you need to detox more than anyone else.
This is important.
It’s time to clear the pipes with an apple cider vinegar and honey colon cleanse recipe.
Poor diet and dehydration can throw your bowel off. Warm water, apple pectin from ACV, and a little natural sugar can help sort you out.
And don’t worry; this method is much gentler than laxatives.
It’s much less likely to cause the urgency and discomfort you get from OTC laxatives. Think of it as more of a nudge in the right direction.
5. Enhance your natural beauty.
Speaking of elimination, now’s a great time to talk about the nature of toxins.
Toxins are bacterial waste.
If you have uneven, blotchy, spotty, inflamed, or flaking skin, something is possibly amiss internally, and a good from-within cleanse is in order.
For internal skin treatment, you can use the ACV cure as per usual. Or, you can make a special apple cider vinegar, honey, and cinnamon detox syrup.
First, combine equal parts ACV and honey in a jar. Next, add two teaspoons of cinnamon and mix well.
You must eat a spoonful or two (or three!) of this nectar each and every day.
That way, you get all of the anti-inflammatory, antibacterial healing properties.
Once your gut health and hormones are on an even keel, glowing skin will definitely follow.
Topical usage of ACV, honey, and cinnamon is also great for the skin. However, I believe that if you really hope to achieve the best results, you should be drinking it as well.
6. Get the rest you desperately need.
Let me explain.
Contrary to what many people assume, insomnia has nothing to do with your ability to go to sleep.
Insomnia occurs when you wake during the night and cannot get back to sleep. An inadequate amount of rest is a major health-killer.
One of my favorite apple cider vinegar and honey detox benefits is better rest.
Because ACV is also an energy tonic, it’s best not to take it before bed. Instead, take it in the morning and afternoon.
This helps your body get into a rhythm where you are expending good levels of energy throughout the day. Therefore, you’ll be ready to settle down in the evening.
Many users report that a regular apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and honey detox is even better.
As it turns out, regular consumption of lemons can help you sleep, too.
7. Make it taste great.
There will always be someone who turns their nose up at an apple cider vinegar and honey detox recipe.
Hey, maybe that’s you!
But what if I told you that you can add ingredients to make it more palatable?
And you’d still get all of the benefits?
How do you do it?
Make the most of your morning juice. You can create your own orange juice, apple cider vinegar and honey detox.
You can even try a grapefruit, apple cider vinegar and honey detox. Just replace half of the water in the recipe with your juice.
It is important to remember...
Fresh juice from organic fruits is best. If you want to concoct your own detox, make sure you’re not self-sabotaging with lots of extra sugar.
8. Melt away at old patterns – and pounds.
Imbibing sodas and frappuccinos on a regular basis isn’t doing you any favors.
You’re becoming dependent on mass quantities of sugar, and consuming far more calories than you’d like.
Try the apple cider vinegar and honey weight loss solution instead!
Diluted with water and sweetened with a touch of all-natural honey, this brew is hydrating and healthy fuel for your body.
Serious about your weight loss journey and want to do a deep reset?
Detox with apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, honey and cinnamon.
Also, you can swap out the cinnamon for cayenne. Consider replacing breakfast or lunch with a tall glass of this metabolism-booster.
9. Undo the damage of past indiscretions.
So, you’ve been indulging in deep-fried foods and bottles of wine.
The sense of pleasure you get from cutting loose is great, but how do you feel when it’s all over?
Guilty and sluggish, with a headache to boot.
Get a head start on clearing out the toxic buildup with an apple cider vinegar and raw honey detox.
After all, your liver has been working overtime getting rid of this stuff. A hangover means that you are in need of hydration, B vitamins, and minerals.
Both of these things can be found in an ACV/honey cure. You could probably benefit from the energy, too, right?
In fact, you can use this ACV cure as a preventative. Take it before entering situations where your willpower will be put to the test.
However, it also works when the damage has been done. Hey, it happens to the best of us. Today’s a fresh start!
10. Increase circulation.
The benefits of good blood circulation include a stronger immune system, optimal organ function, and younger looking skin.
If you deal with fatigue, your blood and organs may be slightly oxygen-deprived, with a greater chance of developing blood clots.
And yes, there’s a detox for that.
An apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, cinnamon and honey detox can help improve blood flow.
In fact, it’s one of cinnamon's superpowers.
Adding as many antioxidant-rich spices as you can to your detox is ideal. In any case, it just so happens that the taste of cinnamon is very pleasing to the majority of us.
To make a tonic for better circulation, mix a teaspoon of cinnamon and honey together. Add it to your ACV and water mixture. Squeeze in ¼ of a fresh organic lemon and mix well.
11. Endure fewer allergic reactions.
Whether due to pollen, ragweed, or microbes in your own home, a sudden allergy attack can derail your day.
A misfire of the immune system, these allergies present themselves as sneezing, congestion, and itchy eyes and nose.
Reduce the amount of these attacks with an apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and honey detox drink. The lemon will provide immune support with vitamin C.
ACV itself can diminish mucous output, which means those allergens won’t get hung up in your sinuses.
Here is an important tip:
If you’re suffering from seasonal allergies, opt for local raw honey. The theory is that it will reduce your sensitivity to the kind of pollen distinct to your location.
12. Give your gut a break!
Did you know that a detox drink with apple cider vinegar, honey, and cinnamon can help reprogram your digestive system?
In fact, giving it a rest by skipping a meal and instead having a glass of water with ACV, honey and lemon can be very beneficial. It helps by flushing out remnants your digestive system has had trouble moving along.
Here is how...
ACV in particular has a long history of improving digestion by increasing the amount of acids in the stomach.
So if you can’t stand to miss lunch, have your detox drink 15-30 minutes before eating and enjoy relief from reflux and indigestion.
13. Live longer.
As you age, your telomeres shorten.
Telomeres are the end caps on each one of your chromosomes.
They are generally worn down naturally with time. There are a number of measures people can take to prevent this wearing down and enjoy a longer life.
Can a solution of ACV and raw honey help?
Studies show a correlation between vitamin intake and telomere length. ACV is rich in vitamin A (beta carotene), various B vitamins, vitamin C and trace minerals.
There are claims that apple cider vinegar is a cancer preventative and a great way for managing diabetes.
Add to that our prior discussion about ACV detoxing for circulation.
Altogether, you’ve got a powerful detoxifying shot at sustaining the length of your telomeres. Even though you probably never think about them!
14. No more sick days.
Don’t take sick days, take personal days.
Here is a wellness tip that isn’t shared often enough.
Instead of being forced into bed by colds and the flu, take advantage of your awesome health. Take a break from the grind to do something you love!
Among all of the apple cider vinegar detox with honey remedies, my favorite is drinking it warm.
I love the extra vitamin C and all of the antioxidants that keep my immune system on track. Especially during cold and flu season.
Already coming down with something? Honey may be more effective than those OTC cough syrups, so all is not lost – drink up.
15. Make your workout really count.
Exercising every day and not seeing the results you want? It’s possible that your energy levels just aren’t up to it.
The fact is, you need to really focus on proper form and engage the right muscle groups. It’s the only way to see your hard work pay off.
Instead of a protein shake or smoothie, try a shot of ACV and water 30 minutes before you get moving. The boost in circulation will allow you to proceed with exceptional focus and vigor.
16. …And make your workout easier, too!
Do you have arthritis? Then you’re no stranger to pain. But what about those of us who have difficulty recovering after a tough workout?
If you feel like you could do with a wheelchair the day after your training session, a mineral deficiency could be to blame.
Now, here’s where people would typically choose a supplement to make up for this. But first, I think you should ask yourself the following question.
Are pills and powders as bioavailable as the good stuff inside of apple cider vinegar?
The answer is "probably not".
I’ve spoken before about ACV’s ability to increase absorption of vital nutrients when taken before eating. That should be of special interest to anyone suffering from joint pain, cramping, and sore muscles.
17. You can finally, truly heal.
Speaking of supplementation, how many do you keep buying, only to feel exactly nothing upon taking it?
The same goes for “fat burning” diet pills and yes, even medications. We’re constantly told that if we just take a pill, we’ll feel well again. Sadly, it usually never works that way and sometimes, it can harm us.
It’s an experience that yields real results, even if the benefits you get aren’t the ones you were expecting!
You might only be looking for more energy.
But when your digestive tract and lymphatic system are back on track, your thinking changes. Suddenly, you’ll realize that your low energy levels are a symptom of a larger imbalance.
You’re solving the root of the problem.
18. It heightens your senses!
We’ve heard about how a detox can sharpen your mind, but does it help your nose and tongue, too?
Lesser-known side effects of an ACV and honey cleanse includes a better sense of smell and taste. Strange but true.
A dulling of the senses is common with age. Yet these senses are also affected by heavy metal toxicity, endocrine disruption and again, a mineral deficiency.
Chronic sinus congestion and allergies may be to blame as well, but all are excellent reasons to detox.
Also, a detox with ACV and raw honey can kill bacteria that live on your tongue. This discourages the ones left behind from clumping together and multiplying.
This explains why your breath becomes fresher and your tastes become more discriminating during a detox. A slice of tomato becomes much more flavorful than a potato chip!
19. Fight exogenous toxins.
Where did that toxic buildup you’re working against come from, anyway?
Some of it is completely normal, but a lot accumulates during daily exposure to pesticides and exhaust. Even your body lotion is a contributor.
An ACV-based detox is just the ticket to protect and remove unwelcome nasties. These got in via the air, various products, and our food and water supply.
Actually, apple cider vinegar is a chelation agent. Drinking it daily will help lift the burden of heavy metals in your system.
20. It makes you feel really good…about yourself
It doesn’t matter if you’re finally losing those last few pounds or just beginning on your wellness journey.
Having an apple cider vinegar, honey, and lemon detox is something you do every day that gives you a sense of accomplishment.
And, dare I say it, a feeling of control over your health.
Your quality of life doesn’t only depend on physical factors; self-esteem counts too.
Drinking an organ-toning detox beverage laden with antioxidants every day is proof that you’re proactive about well-being. You’re not helpless.
21. Your improved well-being will be a good influence.
Research indicates that obesity could be contagious.
Which leads us to question what kind of influence we really have over the people we care about, and vice versa. Just think about all of the times you tried something only because one of your friends swore by it.
Once you experience the benefits of a detox, it’s not as if you’ll need much encouragement to spread the word.
Perhaps the most satisfying part will be witnessing the transformation of those around you.
22. Save money!
How much will a detox drink with apple cider vinegar and honey cost you?
You’re not taking any financial risks when you invest in your health with apple cider vinegar and honey for detox. You can use these two products over and over in a myriad of ways.
23. Learn to let go.
It’s trite but true.
Old habits die hard, and sometimes a drastic shakeup is necessary for the old toxic stuff to fall away.
Embarking on an apple cider vinegar, lemon, honey and cinnamon detox is a great internal cleanse.
But what if you took this opportunity to detox your entire life? What else could you finally be rid of?
The word reset really encapsulates what I believe to be the ultimate benefit of detoxing. It’s a second chance (or seventh chance, no one’s judging) to transition into a better lifestyle.
Think about the last time you packed up and moved.
There were probably a number of things you wanted to trash. You would replace these with a few nicer, more useful items that add real value to your space.
Committing to a physical detox can be exactly like that, if you like.
It’s a chance to make space for a healthier diet, healthier relationships or whatever else you’ve been missing.
Choosing Quality Ingredients for Your Detox – More About Cinnamon, Honey, and Cayenne Pepper
You know by now that authentic, raw, organic apple cider vinegar with the mother is easy to find. It doesn’t require much more thought once you’ve got that bottle.
Now, we’re going to tackle the standards of the other ingredients I recommend for our detox drink recipes.
You might have some pepper or cinnamon kicking around in the cupboard, but is it the best kind for detoxing? And is your honey actually honey?
Let me explain.
A lot of the spices and condiments, such as honey, found in stores are cut-rate versions of the good stuff.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that you couldn’t afford to buy the best.
The fact is that manufacturers would prefer to save themselves money. They do this by spending less on the ingredients you’re shopping for.
Consider the following.
A recent study reports that 100% of the honey sold in drug stores contains no pollen.
Seventy-six percent of bottles from grocery stores don’t contain pollen, either. Instead, what you have is essentially corn syrup with a touch of (likely artificial) caramel color.
What does this type of honey mean to you?
Maybe you haven’t even noticed because the flavor and texture is more or less what you’d expect. However, the removal of pollen from jars of “honey” means that you’re missing a lot.
For starters, the amino acids, vitamins, and proteins that are necessary to our detoxifying elixirs.
If you want to test the authenticity of your honey, drop a spoonful into a glass of water.
The real deal will sink to the bottom, while the artificial kind will begin to dissolve. And as I recommended before, support your local beekeeper and buy local when possible.
Are you ready for your apple cider vinegar, honey and lemon detox?
Not so fast – let’s look at cinnamon. Cinnamon is basically tree bark, so as long as it’s from the cinnamomum cassia evergreen, it's good, right?
Yes and no.
There are many kinds of cinnamon, but the varieties that are most commonly sold to us are Cassia and Ceylon.
It’s probable that your cinnamon is Cassia.
Aside from the topic of coumarin, which does apply when you’re taking in large quantities of cinnamon, Cassia should suffice.
However, I still think you should try Ceylon cinnamon.
Detoxing with such a spice requires you to take it every day, possibly multiple times.
Ceylon does not contain the potentially liver-damaging coumarin that Cassia does. This way, you can get the same benefits with a lowered risk of side effects.
Also, the scent and flavor of Ceylon is much milder. If you’re not looking to overpower any of the other ingredients in your detox drink, it’s a superior choice.
And what of our spicy little friend cayenne pepper?
Celebrities include it in their detox drinks (I’ll share a recipe below). If you love spices that bring out other flavors while providing a healthy dose of heat, it’s a staple.
But spices like powdered cayenne sit on store shelves for longer than we’d like.
As a result, they can lose their potency if they’re not used up reasonably fast. For best results, I recommend that you avoid buying in bulk and start with a smaller quantity.
Finally, keep it in the refrigerator.
Note any loss of color or flavor and never sprinkle your spices over a steaming pot on the stove. The moisture gets into the container and causes them to expire quicker.
Detoxing for Weight Loss - Special Recipes!
Once you’ve got the finest quality ingredients for your detox, try the recipes I’m sharing! Choose the one (or two!) you could see yourself enjoying daily.
Remember - you can mix and match proportions and ingredients to your taste.
Our first is a classic, no-frills apple cider vinegar and honey drink recipe for weight loss, energy and general health.
Enjoy it first thing in the morning and late in the afternoon when you’re feeling tired and hungry. After all, that’s when you’re most likely to eat sugary snacks!
Begin with approximately 8 ounces of warm, filtered water, and add in 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. Take one heaping tablespoon of pure raw honey and stir well. The temperature of the water should assist in melting the honey down so it can blend in better.
This next drink features cinnamon.
It’s the perfect daily detox recipe to take out the door with you on your way to the gym. Drink it up and enjoy a more focused workout and improved protein synthesis.
Start with 12 ounces of plain filtered water. Add two to four tablespoons (as you prefer) of ACV and stir. Next, take one tablespoon of raw honey and add just a drop or two of very warm water to the honey. This makes it a little thinner and easier to work with.
Take two dashes of cinnamon and mix it with your melted honey. This will ensure that the cinnamon doesn’t just float on top, but incorporates and dissolves alongside the honey. Combine this mixture with your water/ACV and get going!
I rate this one as the ultimate detox drink.
For weight loss, replace your breakfast or lunch with this drink. Or, just enjoy it in the morning and eat a healthy, whole-foods diet. Even if you’re not trying to lose weight, this mix will bring on the benefits.
Use our second recipe as a starting template.
Begin with 12 ounces of water and a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar mixed together. When you melt down your raw honey with the warm water, add the cinnamon as instructed.
But don’t pour it in your water/ACV just yet!
Next, add a dash of cayenne pepper and stir until it’s well combined into the honey/cinnamon mixture. It should have the consistency of a light syrup. Now you’re ready to mix it up with your liquid.
